Being responsible is not being selfish

This is an interesting article about the global phenomenon of people preparing for the worst case scenario.

I have been saying for 2.5 years to make sure that you have enough basic stock for yourself and your loved ones.

why? … why not!?!
All along history our civilization has been behaving in this way.
We stock up at summer for the cold winter.
In this modern days where everything is at the reach of our hands at any time, we seemed to forget how fragile our society is.
These kind of times suddenly reminds us of that…

The main reason behind being ready is that the real danger in crisis situation is the psychology of people in panic mode.
It kicks rational thinking out of the window as ppl act from an impulsive instinctive survival behavior.

Fear/panic is the real danger!

toilet paper craziness just showed us a glimpse of that.
People bought it because other people bought it, their minds were thinking ”they must know something that I dont, so I better do it too”
BuT wait… toilet paper is produced locally and in the worse case scenario there are alternatives such as water, etc..
Also what is the point having toilet paper if you dont have food?

Growing up in Israel who is a country that is constantly under threat, our system is designed to be ready.
At any given time the institutions of government/ medical/ army/ police, etc.. must have emergency reserve for at lease 6 months.
For us its a normal way of living.

Dont follow herd mentality!

Be the shepherd!
Look ahead, at where no one else is looking ! Dont fear or panic, remain calm & take actions that suits you.

Think basic needs & be smart!
Here are some ideas:

1. Water –
A) Drinking – 2 Litres per person per day

B) Cooking – 2 Liters per household per day

C) Hygiene – 2-5 Litres per household per day

(30 Litres containers from bunnings)

2. Food – Think Nutrition!

shelf food-
A) Cans of vegetables/fruits, fish, chicken, beef.

B) Rice / Pasta / flour / Oil

C) Supplements / Vitamins / superfoods / energy snacks.

3. Medical – Important medications / Basics; first aid kit, pain killers, temperature reducer / Etc.

4. Cleaning- Bleach (eliminate germs), hands soap, dishwashing soap, laundry powder, detergents, etc.

5. Luxuries- Coffee / Tea / shelf Milk or powder / cacao /Honey / snacks/ etc.

6. others – Batteries, candles, Lighter, matchstick, BBQ gas, etc.

When you are ready you dont panic!
When you are responsible you keep calm in times of need.

Much love
